WELCOME TO MESSIAH!

We would like to invite you to join us on a wonderful journey--a journey of faith that will transform your life by deepening your relationship with God. At Messiah, we like to say that we are "GRaCe PoWeReD." This simple mission statement guides all that we do here at Messiah. Each consonant is a gentle reminder that we become GRaCe PoWeReD by Growing, Relating, Contributing, Praying, Worshiping, Reading Scripture and Discipling with a Christ-centered faith to serve our church, community and world. In other words, we Grow in our faith by being in Christ-centered Relationships; by Contributing (or sharing) our time, talents and gifts; by Praying; Worshiping and Reading Scripture on a regular basis; and by Discipling (or sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with others).

We are GRaCe PoWeReD and Growing!

Come Grow with us!

UPCOMING EVENTS

Sunday, January 29th, 6 to 9 p.m.

It's Messiah's answer to the Winter Blahs!!! Join your church family for an evening of swimming, games and fellowship at the Leadership Center (1609 E. Hwy 34) from 6 to 9 p.m.  Come for the whole evening or just an hour.  The swimming pool and gym will be open.  Bring your swimsuit & towel, if you'd like to swim or a board game and/or cards if you prefer. There's usually a couple of tables of pitch going or a rousing game of Apples to Apples or who knows what else.  Irregardless plan on coming for a good time.  Bring a snack to share if you want and feel free to invite your friends. There will be a basket for a donation if you'd like to help defray the cost of renting the Leadership Center.

On Sunday, Feb. 5th, 140 million people will tune in to the Super Bowl football game. There will be parties with abundant food, friendship and fellowship. At the same time, there will be people worrying about staying warm and finding shelter and a warm meal. Please join people around the country as they demonstrate God’s love by loving their neighbors through the Souper Bowl of Caring. It’s a simple, yet significant, act of caring for others. Drop $1 (or more) in the soup pot as you leave worship on February 5th. All donations received will go to the Hamilton County Back-packers. Those who need help may not know that you cared, but God will.

The annual meeting for Messiah Lutheran is scheduled for February 5, 2012, following our 9:00am Worship service. Council positions to be elected this year are: President, Treasurer, Trustee-Property, Deacon, and Education. Any voting member may nominate someone for office, up until 10 days before the annual meeting, providing that the nominee is eligible for office and willing to serve.

The agenda for the annual meeting will be posted 30 days prior to the meeting and closed 10 days prior to the meeting. Ten members may petition the president to propose an agenda item; such petitions must be made to the president at least 10 days prior to the annual meeting. Only voting members present may vote at the congregational meeting. A voting member is defined in the constitution of Messiah as a confirmed member who partakes of communion and contributes to the church.

One important item on this year’s agenda is a vote by the congregation to approve the hiring of an architect for the Building project.

GriefShare will begin again on Feb. 23rd

Thursday nights @ 7:00 p.m

We are currently wrapping up the GriefShare support group that we began in the fall.
We are looking to begin another group starting February 23rd. This group will be co-led by Pauline Hahn and will run 13 weeks ending in May. If you have been dealing with loss and would like some direction or simply a listening ear, check out GriefShare. These videos offer a Biblical perspective and insight along with a chance to share with fellow travelers on this journey we call grief. Find a place to ask simple questions like, “Am I going crazy?” (No, but often people who grieve feel that way.) How long should I grieve? (Good question, as long as it takes.) What do I say to a friend’s well-meant, but misguided advice?” (Good question for the group.) Take this opportunity to start the next session on February 23rd at 7:00pm here at Messiah!
